View Full Version : 9.6 render slow on areas of no detail

I just noticed something in 9.6. You see I often render single objects on a white background or even a white ground plane for stock photography uses. Normally towards the bottom of the image where there is no detail and it's all white with only the single ground poly to render it would always speed up the render in this area before 9.6

In the image below I would be talking about the area below the cans and shadows in this render, just as it's rendering the last of the can it might give me an estimate remaining of 3 hours, but before 9.6 this estimate would drop fast when it realizes it's only rendering a single solid white poly and might finish in 10 minutes instead of 3 hours.

Problem is now in 9.6 it really does take 3 hours and areas of low poly & detail count don't speed it up. Funny thing is it renders the white above the cans in less than a minute. This is what it should (and use to do) under 9.5 and earlier.

Any ideas or confirmations on this happening?
