Wow that's friggin' fast!

I'm pretty happy with my cable modem speed too.

If you're in the States this site is great for testing your speeds:

Here are my results:

If I'm lucky I get 1.8mbps, usually it's 1.6mbps...before I upgraded to a lower contention ratio and removed the bell wire from the phone socket I got 800kbps max.

I looked up ADSL 2+ yesterday and we should get it within the next couple of months but I'm only going to get about 50kbps extra.

My dad lives in a tiny village a few miles down the road and get's 8mb all day long on a standard BT connection.

This is what I'm working with in the office. My home connection is 0/0 right now, so that isn't any fun at all. It's nice to get back to work and see all that's going on 'round here.

Yeah, 0/0 is no fun at all! :(

Good thing we are giving billions to the car companies and banks.

When people are looking up upgrade their 100mps line, it kind of pwns everybody. Now no one will beat them at Starcraft

2 Mbit down. 512 up. Not bad, since I also have cable TV and phone hooked onto same optic fibre.

50 meg? What do you actually use it for?
I usually get 850 kb/s and I've honestly never thought 'this is soooo slow, I need a faster connection'.
It's only 5- 6 years ago there was nothing but dial-up in my area, so 8 meg still seems like magic.

I'm getting 2193kbps down and 83kbps up, but that's on my iPhone using 3G. Not too bad really. I thought it would be much slower, but 234k per second is screaming fast for a silly phone.

I have Verizon FIOS and currently I have 20Mb down and 5Mb up. I also have 500+ TV channels running on the same Fiber and about 80 HDTV channels. Haven't counted them actually. I know V has higher speeds but right now they cost too much.

We should all have 100Mb like they do in Asia. We have some catching up to do.

I just checked and Verizon FIOS does offer a 50Mb down 20Mb up service but they want about $140/month for it.

I'm happy with 20 down/5 up for now.
