Are there plans to implement OpenCL in the render engine?
Seems like GPU accelerated rendering is finally taking off.
To use the speed of the GPU at rendering, I think most users would like to see an OpenCL implementation of the rendering engine.
OpenCL because it's supported by Nvidia and ATI GPU's and it is cross platform.

It would surely be nice. I can at most see some parts of the render take advantage of it, I don't see a full production renderer running on OpenCL though. While the concept is extremely cool it also has its limits.
It's also still a few months off to be released - which would be the earliest point to actually evaluate it (...yes, I did read the specs, but that 's not the same as playing with it).

I can see it making a lot of sense for 2D image processing though... 3D only in special cases.

Cheers,
Mike
