Ahhh gone are the days sat on a commodor 64 , IRC hacking .
how i miss them , but this whole marketing idea " may i add , amazing " has got me thinking , i could use corrupt ways to find out ,even a basic linux web crawler could help a little or i could spam the ftp over and over again but lets not go down that road .
I took some screens of Newtek website from 1996 and a few others , just for fun more than anything

In all honesty, I've never really been thrilled about NewTek's website. I'm not trying to knock the designer or anything. None of the designs have been "BAD" - just that I've always wanted something better.

Somehow, I guess I've felt that as I think highly of the LightWave software it deserves to have a uber website.

Some of the changes to the LW section lately have been very good - in it's current state is it a very decent site. I've got high hopes for the next incarnation of NewTek's site.

NT websites never have been very good... really. It's still sort of sub-par, although the relative quality increased a lot.

Parts of NewTek's site is heading in the right direction. These pages are coming along nicely, and consistent too:

http://www.newtek.com/lightwave/index.php
http://www.newtek.com/vt/index.php
http://www.newtek.com/rendition/

These ones need to look like the ones above:

http://www.newtek.com/
http://www.newtek.com/speededit/
http://www.newtek.com/3DA/

And this one, although in the same style as the first lot, is too "cheerful" for my liking, the blue is too cheap, never liked it. I much prefer the more professional, darker looking pages:

And this whole process needs sorting out and the pages re-designed:

This whole setup needs an overhaul too:

I think I remember (at my age it's hard to tell) this as the site the NewTek had when I first bought in around version 5.5 to 5.6 - it was live for a short while, then changed. Or at least something very close - I do remember the curves with the logo in the upper left corner.

I like where the site (as a whole) seems to be heading now, but I do think it looks a bit too much like a template "blog" site. My feeling is that NT has a unique business view, I'd like to see a unique Internet presence to show that.

Though given some of my recent clients and their opinions, apparently I'm part of a small minority that thinks that template sites don't embody individualism. Despite their all looking vaguely similar.
