How do you create normal maps from a hi rfes model in Lightwave to bake onto a low res version of the same model?

Is it not possible to create a hi res model and get a normal map from it and apply as a normal map over a low res model as you do in videogames?
I have seen how easy is to do that in Modo, but is this possible in Lightwave?

I don't generate normal maps in LW myself, but there are a few methods that I know of. Firstly, dpont has a node called 'NormalCast'. It can be found (with information on how to use it) HERE (http://www.newtek.com/forums/showthread.php?t=62646&highlight=normalcast).

I checked using the forum search and found this thread. Maybe it'll help.

You can also bake an hi res background layer
to a low res foreground layer (with a proper UV map)
with NormalMapCreate Modeler plugin from Marvin Landis,

Checking "Tangent Space" you will get a
Normal map compatible with LW Normal node.
