Thanks Matt,
I wonder if rendering in 32 bit windows will make a difference..
I don't have sadly a dual boot system to clarify.
If anyone can dual boot, will be nice to have a test on the 2 OS's

Yes, not sure if 32 bit LW on 64 Bit OS makes a difference to 32 Bit LW on 32 Bit OS.

Anyone?

Apparently it does. I've read a few benches whe XP64 initially came out. Basically, since the 64-bit OS is slightly quicker, even 32-bit apps can be slightly faster. We're talking low single digit percentages though. I also guess that the more computing happens inside the 32-bit app (as in the case of LW) as opposed to the app using the OS heavily, the less of a difference it makes.

As for the link: They provide little detail to actual verify their benchmark set-up, so it could be anything really.

Cheers,
Mike

To match what is tested in the article you should have: LightWave v9.0, Vista 32 bit and 64 bit installed at the same time, use scene "Radiosity-Box"..

See mine link in LightWolf post. They mentioned everything..

64-bit version works faster than 32-bit one on my comp. Especially the heavy scenes where I can utilize all 8gigs of ram.

My 64 bit renders faster, than the 32 bit, not much faster, using the scene "Radiosity-Box"..

But did you tried both LW v9.0 (not the latest LW v9.5-v9.6! They didn't even exist when article was written), and dual boot system, where is real 32 bit OS? If you run 32 bit application on 64 bit OS, it's still not the same as what they did in the benchmark..
