Did someone on accident bump against a new theme that fell our way, or are we now the proud visitors of a very nice new visual theme for the forums?

I have not explored it much, but certainly looks a lot better! Kudos!

edit: except that my signature looks like poo on this background... :)
edit2: and so do the smilies...

I must be missing something... The "NewTek" and "Default Style" look the same to me and the newtek_08 has been there for a week or two. I've lost my mind I'm sure of it.... and no backup.

I think the Newtek_08 just became the default. So people who weren't playing with it before are just seeing it rolled out as the official new style.

Personaly, I went back to the old style.

To each his own.

I think it looks great, but it's a shame they didn't make it fixed-width this time around.
I've always hated percentage based widths on a forum.

But yeah, love the colour scheme, very nice

who am I to complain being a newby, but the preivew popup that appears when hovering over the topics is so annying.

Other than that the theme looks good to me - I prefer light on a dark background :)

Wow, nice work on the upgrade and the new theme. It looks great and it makes a good change from the default. It was a bit of a shock though. For a moment, I wondered if I was on the right site or not.

Indeed! I've been using it since it was released about two weeks ago. I can't stand the old colors, hurts my eyes. This, however, is so much nicer. Eventually though I'd love to see the new smilies and such that andrew has in stock for us. :)

I thought we were all using this template anyway, I've had it switched on for a while now!

But I agree, I feel much better when I visit here now!

Hmmm I'm not sure about all the wasted space!

The colour scheme is much better as reading lots of text on white was hard going :) Now they need to clean up these smilies and make the edges transparent ;)

Has the Calander always been there/here?

When I first came on this morning I thought I had gone to the wrong site! So use to the blue!

Oh. And for those of you that weren't aware of the new colours until a couple of days ago, you probably aren't aware that you can now edit your posts for 5 hours instead of 5 minutes. :)

I had some idea of cleaning the smilies is to use APNG format since it is supported by FireFox 3.x.x and Opera 9.5 browsers :), and it's backward compatible with PNG format, oh forgot :foreheads ... APNG stands for Animated Protable Network Graphics, and since it's backward compatible with PNG still image, only supported browsers will display the animation, at the same time other brow$er$ (IE) will display it as normal PNG.

look here: http://people.mozilla.com/~dolske/apng/demo.html

I think most people now using FireFox. right? at least in this forum, so using APNG will have the benefit of 24bit colors with 8 bit alpha for correct edge antialias in smilies, and much less file size compared with the really really outdated GIF format (c'mon we're in 2008).

Wondered what you were all blathering about until I realised I'd been using the newtek_08 colour scheme for a few weeks as I happened across it and it rocked then.

Lovely job webheads - I feel all professional now

i'm definitely gonna be in the minority here but i'm kinda unimpressed about the "dark" themes... everybody seems to really love it in everything from compositing apps to 3d apps to websites but i kinda like the plain white look. cheerful....

i also work with all the house lights on too so... as i said, i'm in the minority.

but definitely not objectionable and in-line with what others consider cool and professional lookin'....
