View Full Version : Cloth/Collision FX help

I am trying to simulate tearing on the surface of an object where a tool slices into the object that retains its shape. An analogy would be like cutting a grape with a scalpel: the skin of the grape can be torn, but the object itself retains its form. I would like to be able to cut the surface of the object (a sphere) using Collision FX and Cloth FX. Soft FX is also an option, but I figured it would be easier with Cloth.

So far I have attempted to use Collision Objects to interact with a spherical Cloth object that has certain points fixed in place, but this can be inaccurate and inefficient given the number of polys on the sphere object.

This project is simulating surgery on the lens of the eye, hence the grape analogy. Please help ASAP!

Have you tried using morphs?
