View Full Version : does # of points contribute to render times?

The more polygons you have, the more longer render times take. What about points? Do they take up memory?

Theoretically, no. Technically, yes. The points are what define each polygon and are more than likely stored in a polygon "object" along with it's surface name, texture attributes, etc... But the polygon as a whole includes the points that define it. In addition, a single point can be defined in one or more polygons (depending on how many polygons the point shares). I don't know if Layout treats (or copies) all points as a collection of sort for reference, but it is possible.
