I've searched the forums but haven't found a current thread on the state of affairs of Lightwave exporting to Open Flight.

I'm currently using Maya to import and export models in the .flt format. It works very well, but I'd like to use Lightwave for my 3D production. That way I can work at home since I don't own a seat of Maya and personally prefer Lightwave.

Yes, I have shipped the main OpenFlight conversion system since 1997. It has had full bidirectional OpenFlight <--> Lightwave since that date and has proven to be my third most requested conversion pipeline over that time frame. The pipeline also supports conversion of LW animation data (up to Lightwave v9.x) into OpenFlight flip-book animation.

All documentation is online:

http://www.okino.com/conv/imp_flt.htm
http://www.okino.com/conv/exp_lw.htm

As always, you can email me directly with any technical questions as I have answers to everything which relate to 3D translation. I have fully supported Lightwave bidirectionally since 1994 and know Lightwave like the back of my hand.

Thank you. I'll check it out. It would be really great to change the pipeline over to LW if it's a viable solution for Open Flight files.

NuGraf is an awesome production tool. Have converted many .lwo to .flt without issue.

Thank you.
