okay not completly CG related..but if your in the biz of making animations then SOUND is a big part of production so stumbling over this virtual synth for the nintendo DS is pretty cool and can make some basic music tracks with it's sequencer etc...but the real nifty thing for me is>>

as this is a good emulation of the patchcord based synth from the 80's
for those wacky bbc radiophonic workshop sound/fx found on dr who
and blakes 7 for example...

gonna be getting this for sure for my nintendo ds.

have look over on youtube too for some demo vids
and it's available on amazon as you'd expect!:)

BUZZ went extinct under suspicious circumbstances. the creator claims taht he lost all source code and then an apple product came out that was suspiciously like buzz.

Word. I've been using the thing for a little while now, Japanese version. It's freakin' amazing, and I'm not music maker. It's easy to get some decent stuff rolling out of the speakers.

Not long ago, two friend of mine, and myself, hooked up. We all have it and jammed out. Pretty amazing, it was fun. You can connect up to I believe 8 DSs with the KORG-DS10 (it actually has features from the DS20, btw) share the same song (or not), and then control different aspects of a greater song from each DS. Anyway, highly recommended.

yeah i'm quite excited by the idea of a pocket synth for the nintendo DS,

just had a look at reason on the net, that also looks pretty cool but abit expensive for what i want currently...

will wait n see what apple bring out pc wise in jan then probably go get logic pro..
i currently have an ageing mac mini g4 and the rather nifty garageband...though i wan to get a new mac soon i think it's prudent to wait till jan when new mac's may arrive...like a new imac or a new mac mini.

I got mine last summer when it was released in Japan and, yes, it's quite awesome! This was the second reason for me to own a DS. (The first was the homebrew DS program Colors! which I actually use here at work sometimes.)

Technically, you're supposed to be able to link 8 DSs with one DS-10 cartridge. One of these days I'll have to snag my wife's DS and see how well it works with just two.

Does anybody know if the US release is different from the Japanese version? Any new features?

okay the local gamestation shop didn't have it so i've ordered it from amazon.co.uk
also by the looks of it on some youtube vids you have a pattern arranger so you don't have to manually switch between patterns to play back a song which is cool.

looking forward to having a play with this soon!

Got mine about a week ago.
It's exactly like having two 2 oscillator analogue synths & a four pad drum machine, with extras that really make it fun.
The Kaoss pad for each synth is seqencable( is that a word?), & I have only now just torn myself away from it to play the Left4Dead demo.
I used to lust after the Mini-Korg synth, & this thing is so good, it kind of made me dissapointed with some of the other DS titles.
Y'know like ; If it can do THIS what are all these other people missing?

Hey man!

I don't think there are any differences, I'm pretty certain you can link up the Japanese one with the North American or European release. Of course I don't know for certain, but I'll be giving it a shot once a friend of mine picks up the NA version.

it's here!

just been playing [did not read the manual...just slap in an go!] for about 2 hours...brilliant stuff!
..so after that i had a quick flick thru the booklet...you can aslo record sys exclusive info via the kaos pad and editing the grid for vcf, vca, pan, volume etc...

all in all amazing so far..the only thing i'd love ontop of what i have already would be to be able to record 2 or 4 bars at a time rather than 1...but other than that it's def doable and the song arranger [pattern based looks big enough for some songs]

the sound of the syth is really cool...very full sounds and the drums are NOT presets but are also tweekable ds10 based synth sounds....amazed at that!

only made one pattern so far based offof 2 of my own sounds i created and some drums i made..

this is going to be fun!
