View Full Version : Envelope and Expression?

Is there a method of simulating an "envelope" of the effect of an expression? For example, I'd like to apply Noisy Channel to the camera's X, Y, and B channels to create camera shake while at a high zoom, but then minimize the effect after the camera zooms to wide angle. I know all about baking such "live effects" but don't see how baking the noise added to the existing channel graphs (600 frames worth) will help since this would require a tedious amount of work to individually edit a selected range of keys coinciding as the FOV changes from telephoto to wide angle. Is there an expression that could be added or "layered on top of" Noisy Channel such that it would do such a simulated "envelope" on the "live effect?" If not, what is an efficient work around?

Thought experiment, try this.

make two Nulls. Apply Noise to the Y channel of one of them. Make an Expression

Value + [NoisyNull.Position.Y] * [OtherNull.Position.Y]

Apply the expression to the channels you want noise on.

Keyframe the height of 'OtherNull' to envelope the amount of noise.

Or try Noisy Channel 2 at Dstorm,
its parameters have envelope.
