I'd like to press a key in order to change the current viewport's orientation so that its viewing plane is orthogonal to the normal average of the selection.

Since in LW only polygons have normals, this would only work in polygon selection mode.

The purpose is a simple way to create a temporary construction plane.

Would be very useful to do rotations or stretches along arbitrary axes. This is already possible in perspective viewports, but lacks the accuracy needed sometimes, as it is just based on the user's estimation whether he's looking straight onto the plane he wants to work on (if not, usually a number of corrections are necessary by shifting points around again and again).

In addition to this, turntable-like rotation should be possible in every viewport (which would then change from "Back" or "Right", "Top" etc. to "Custom" on the popup button):


This custom setting could then be recalled each time necessary.

Another way to get to it would be simply switching off perspective projection in a perspective viewport (switching it to orthogonal). This action should also be available via keyboard.

I'd thought about this orthagonal view recently too, it would be well useful!
