i bought the sony mdr-cd380 $cdn80 last year and they have serve me well so far. good bass and treble sound so i can mix audio for dvd and the best thing is that they block off the loud kids from my world. :D

Sennheiser are great too but costs more here. i too had a budget.

Sony DJ style 500's

They definitely ROCK! Awesome Lows! and crisp, clear Highs!

For US$120 they are worth every penny.

I gots 5 pair around here.

Anyone like the Bose Triports?

Saw some good reviews, but have been leery of the cost ($150?)

Been using some Sennheiser 25HD SP1s (http://www.topdjgear.com/sehdsp1he.html) for 7 years now (DJing) they taken some battering and have only just started to go (the cord has been pulled around too much) but the sound quality remains excellent.

My next purchase will be some Pioneer HDJ-1000s (http://www.topdjgear.com/pionhdprofhe.html) which look pretty darn good!

Hope that helps!

Cheers

I'll second the Sennheiser HD280Pro headphones. Those are so good, we've standardized on them.

pblacklock: yeah they're expensive but they sound and look amazing!

I'm a big fan of Pioneer build quality too, I've had some CDJ-500S decks which have had drinks spilled on them, knocked about and they're still going!!!

Probably the best pro-level headphones around are the Sony mdr-v600's.

Frequency response 5 - 30,000Hz

very comfortable

going for $99 retail or around $60-65 on ebay

we have 3 sets of them here and love 'em
