Is there a better bevel tool out there. When I try to bevel text it always reverses the edges. See image........

Is there a tool that doesn't do this. I know there are a lot of bevel tools but is there one that doesn't generate this kind of junk?

Have you tried the router tool?
Its not interactive like the bevel tool so you have to use the numeric pad, but it usually give me a lot better results without having to fix the problems like the ones the bevel tool seems to produce.
Here is a video tut for it:
ftp://ftp.newtek.com/multimedia/movies/w3dw/router.mov

The tool can be found under Multiply>Extend>More>Router

I tried that, but that does the same thing....

wasn't there a 3rd party bevel tool once that did not do that? Wasn't it recently released jettobevel? I don't remember, I'll check.

Edit: no, jettobevel does the same thing. Maybe it was some other tool or my memory is failing me.

that's the plugin you're referring to i think. Don't know if it's still compatible with 9.5

Surrealist.

MultiShift gives you a few more options to control the operation,

But for a smooth control over an edge like probably rounder will give you better results. Select points or polys. Remember it defaults large compared to generated text so pull up the numeric panel to tame the beast.

Another thing is that the text layers option lets you bevel text when you make it so that may even be a more stable option.

That look like the tool I'm looking for. But now I need to install lw32 first.

Multishift gives the same buggy result...

thnx guys

If I am using a standard font.....I use Vue. Some nice bevel options in that.

Extender Plus followed by the scale and move tools can do a good job beveling.

Or if you don't want to buy anything, Pictrix's Rasp tool will sort out the overlap after you used the Bevel tool ...

http://www.pictrix.jp/lw/Rasp/

It's an LScript too, so it will work will all LightWave verisons.

Know what you mean, I've downloaded a useful plugin before, forgotten about it, done a search, downloaded the same plugin only to find I had it installed anyway!

Yes, that totally drives me crazy... Half the time I'm searching for plugins I already have... It's the worst for the ones you don't really use too often.
