View Full Version : Moving an item at a constant speed

I have a complex path animation that needs to happen at a constant speed, right now my object slows down and speeds up between the keyframes. Moving around the spacing of the kayframes would probably fix this but it's tedious. Is there another way to do it ?

Have you played with the Graph editor?

Well, after having the exact same problem I think that you may read these threads

Convert the motion path in modeler to a string of 2 point polys using the motion path extrude tool. Once you do that use the select loop tool on the points and hit ctrl + p to create a spline.
Kill the 2 pt polys. Now pick the first point on your spline and copy/paste it into another layer. Make that point into a single point polygon. Now rail extrude the single point polygon and set it to uniform lengths. The trick here is to get the right # of points because each point will represent 5 frames.
Youll once again have string of 2 point polys. Repeat the process of converting those to a spline. Now you can export the spline as a motion path that will have a constant speed.

in graph editor select key frame points and change curve to linear

Export path to Modeler, then use EasySpline's Spline Density tool.

Plugin is available here

If the animation path is created / done in Layout wouldn't using DPon't Motion Info node, like the solution in this quite similar thread, do pretty much exactly what you're after.

Easy peasy & quite adjustable.
