Because some are having problems with the password, I'll host the plugins on LWPluginDB until that gets sorted out:

I'm head of 3D on my current project in Dubai and my duties Include techical direction on ALL the tools we uses ( that's Lightwave, XSi, Maya, Modo and Houdini etc )

SO right now WIP there is T4D V4 for LW9.5 and T4D rigging tools for XSI, Maya and Houdini at different levels as needed BUT Only in house.

After the project they will be some cool things coming out when i retire to a farm house and Internet connect in Australia somewhere :D

I also own the IP on the tools after the project is finished. :deal:

To find them just as you release them for $0 license is a bonus. Thank you for your generosity and best wishes for your project in Dubai.

Thank you very, very much for releasing your toolset!

I am currently trying to get into character animation, so this is very, very helpful. :)

I also downloaded your Tutorial videos, and there i have a question.

In the video T4D_Layout_Lesson (RigingTools 3 + LW 8.2) you

load Vic.lwo
open Biped_Rigger
apply IK Legs & Arms
select X-Body bone
move that down the Y axis
and this looks then like this
66131

If i do exactly the same using LW9.5 and RiggingTools 3.1, then it looks like this
66132

If i select the victoria.lwo, and enable the IK for legs and arms it looks like this
66133

If i move the X-Body bone a bit up, it looks like this
66134

Have i done something wrong, or is there a difference between v3 and v3.1? :)

geothefaust

I haven't used these rigging tools, but when something like that happens it's generally because your motion controller needs rotated to align the rig properly, at least for one of those images.

The last image, it just looks like you need to either scale up the mesh or scale down the rig.

This happens with the allready prepared model, bundled with T4D rigging tools 3.1.
I have not touched the bone setup, T4D added to it. :)

I have just applied the skeleton setup provided by T4D to a model i created and everything is working nicely.

Maybe this is a small error in the model bundled with the toolset, or i did something wrong. :)

Animating it is quite tricky.... but fun so far.

Can you use quick picker apart from the rest of the tools in t4d, to make it akin to the custom character sheet?

Match goal is in the Motion Options area (under windows) for those whose didn't know like me.
After doing this, you still have to manually straighten out the feet, and set them.
Why does this happen?
We don't have to do this for the wrist for example?

Man, Newtek if you are listening, LW 10 needs easy character animating above all else in this users opinion.
I still rather suck at CA. (I would be lost without TD4s rig setup).

geothefaust
01-26-2009, 01:59 PM
Match goal orientation sucks. What I would do, is select the bones and set rotation to 'Same as Item', and set the null controller that you were using for match goal. That'll solve the problem. Applicable to 9.5/9.6 only.

I haven't used these tools yet, so I don't know if it would affect something else with the rig, but I really doubt it would.

I think I got QuickPickerPro working in Windows 7 and LW 9.6 with the 3.1 version that T4D gave us for free. Thanks again :). Just remove the QuickPickerPro_v3.0b_mac folder from your T4D rigging folder. The Quickpicker is going to ask you for a tga file. Just look for it in the QuickPickerPro_v3.0 folder inside the T4D rigging folder.
BTW, what is the problem of 3.1 and LW 9.6?? It looks like it is working. At least with the demo objects that came with it. Anyway, I'm not an expert in CA animation, just trying to learn.

This is an IK drift issue that occurs when taking IK setups from pre-9.6 rigs into 9.6.

Its due to the changes in the IK solver... in this case it can be remedied some by selecting the X_L/R_Hip bones and turning on unaffected by IK of decendents... but there's still a drift issue if you move the root/hips down to much which pushes the feet apart. the same issue is also present on the IK arms.

Mainly though, this is down to the pre-9.6 deisgn of the IK setup... using 2 bones with IK on different channels at ball joints... doesn't work in 9.6 the way it used to in older versions.

The only real fix is for the entire IK in the rig to be updated and rebuilt to play nicer with LW 9.6

ericsmith
11-16-2010, 11:25 AM
I don't have the T4D rig personally to look at, but oddly enough, what you really want to do is to turn on "unaffected by IK of decendants" for the bone AFTER the IK goal bone in the hierarchy. So, so for example, if the ankle bone has the IK goal, you'll want to turn on unaffected by IK of decendants for the FOOT bone below it.

I have no idea what happened in 9.6 to make this a logical thing to do, but there you go.

Eric

Absolutely Thanks! It works fine!!

Rebelhill is right about what bones must be unaffected by descendants as you said, guys... thank you very much! I was becoming crazy because I worked with the previous version of T4D in previous versions of Lw and I didnīt find this problem. Now I see what was happening... I will sleep fine at last :D

Does the new version have updated versions for all the plugins for 9.6 or just an updated version of the biped rig. The reason I'm looking to buy this plugin is for the quadruped rig controls and joystick plugin.

Also does anyone know if the website is still up and running? I have emailed him just to check I wasn't sending 60$ to a dead website and I haven't gotten a response back and its been about a week.

If his site isn't up and running still does anyone know other good tutorials/plugins on rigging and animating a cat without spending an arm and a leg?

Thanks

I still use it (until I figure out Messiah). It's fine in 9.6. You may have to turn on matching orientation in the bones motion properties.
