I'm trying to make a salt shaker, really simple. I'm having problems trying to figure out how to make holes in the lid. I've got the shaker in one layer and the lid in another. I feel silly having trouble with something that seems like it should be so simple.

Just a note; If you are using SubDs for the top, then make sure you freeze the mesh before using a boolean operation. If using normal polygons, no worries, just boolean away!

Don't waste your time with a Boolean, it's not good for that sort of thing. Use "Rounder" instead.

Using point mode and select the points you want to bevel , select the tool and open the numeric pad "n".

The new geometry automatically has it's own surface name so when done just select in the key "w" poly stats window and delete.

PS. Rounder is under multiply/extend

^I love rounder for that!

Just make sure your 'mesh density' is set to 'low' just like meshpig showed in the screengrab. :)
