Endorphin 2.7.1 Learning edition is free to download.

http://www.naturalmotion.com/downloads.htm

No timelimits, full features except, no motion export and a special save format.

Love this stuff..unfortunatly we canīt check how well fbx or bvh translates to Lw rigs, but Youll get a chance to play with the program to know itīs features and drool.

The full versions has fbx and bvh export of course.

This.. looks.. AWESOME!!
Does anyone know what pricing we might expect for this? I'm a freelancer, though.. but dang.. this would truly make it really interesting to do character animation as a service..

If you have to ask pricing, you can't afford it :)

" endorphin 2.7 is available now for $9495. The upgrade is free of charge to existing NaturalMotion customers with a valid maintenance contract. NaturalMotion also gives customers an opportunity to rent endorphin on a monthly basis for $1195. "

In '06 I played with this and was barely able to get a LW biped rig into Endorphin that worked for the most part, which was shocking. There was no support for LW then as I was told I was the only LW user ever to ask about it. I have encountered nothing but problems with any other FBX, Collada, or BVH pipeline in/out of LW. Endorphin was pretty intuitive to me.

At the other end of the spectrum, AniMate ($40) for Daz (free) now allows a basic drag-n-drop pre-animated/mocapped motion timeline type thing that blends preset motions and animation together. Is no doubt limited, but will probably have a large support base of behaviors (most of which will be gunk). But see how quickly pre-viz quality animation can be setup and even lip-synched with the intuitive interface.

It seems like this is the "mantra" sellers and providers use when they havenīt got an interest in helping customers or interested applicants. What help is it to you, me or anyone else knowing that no one else have complained?

Just think about it when youīre at a restaurant and the food taste disgusting, contains dead pieces of human flesh and wood sticks and when you try to complain the waiter, cook or any one else in charge goes: No one else who have complained!

What a relief! NOT!

I believe it was the Monkees who sang "and then I saw her face"! What a great song that was... didnīt understand it when it was first released... though Monkees was the joke of the day for every little Hendrix fan by then... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIZTtYUe2iw

But then I really saw her face... and it scared me so!

What the heck is that look in her face about? Stroke or insanity... or maybe a plastic surgery that gone totally wrong? Ill check more on this before judging it to hard, but tell me truly because I donīt know anything about it.

But tell me this... after I have looked at some of the dancing videos from Animate on Youtube it seems like they have some presets almost anyone is using... they all look like the same move if you see what I mean...

it might be something to look into, not released just yet, but will have a "indie" price when released.

the techniques mentioned in this thread seems interesting for combining with crowd simulation too,

Am not following the comparison. It was just not in Natural Motion's interest to support an app that they heard no interest from anyone about- as in that market was non-existent.

Exactly what are you trying to transfer? We use Motionbuilder with LW and haven't had that many problems with FBX. I also use FBX in conjunction with PointOven between LW/Maya. Interestingly though, I transfered some animation using FBX (from LW) and in Maya the motion was screwed up, in Motionbuilder it wasn't. It boiled down to the new FBX exporter in LW, because the one we have in LW8.x worked flawlessly for this particular case both in Maya and Motionbuilder. However, clearly there seems to be some inconsistency between Maya and Motionbuilder as well.
