Bone Displacement in 9.5:

Lots of potential with this...think about wrinkles in clothing and skin :)

powerfull powerfull stuff.
ive wanted something like this ever since i saw the stress map shader.
this could make my star trek chars way cooler.

you could even make a discplacement map in zbrush that has a really masculine and vainy person and have it apply during bone rotation

Is there a reason why My version of lightwave 9.5 doesnt include the bone displacement or joint bulge options? Maybe im going crazy but its really not there... can it be a config problem? As far as i was aware you cant change the layout of the subwindows...

Ahh explains alot then :D Bone Displacement in 9.5 should really say Bone Displacement in 9.5.1. Caught me off guard there, wondering how i missed such a cool feature in 9.5 ..... :thumbsup:

Very cool! Shame they don't have nodal based expressions, so you could drive it all using nodes :) Not that I have a clue about rigging anyway :)

I was thinking that Newtek could create a set of internal deformers making it possible to see tendons when the bones are bent. Now I am wondering if it would be possible to manipulate morphs instead of a displacement texture.
Any way just thinking out loud.

does this work with weight mapped bones?

the expression doesn't look hard to setup but too bad there isn't just a quick "set driven key" method to setup that relationship.

Thats good to know. I never really got into using expressions. But I think this would make a character much more believable.

Bone texturing is very powerful!

You can also drive your textures with a bend gradient, instead of an expression.
