am not getting good results trying to bring Modo displacement maps into LW. I have tried them as both regular displacement maps and as normal maps with the similar results. Please see the attached. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First: what you're showing looks like a normal map, rather than a displacement map--if you're not clear on the difference, you should Google around and read up on it a bit.

More relevant is that displacement maps created in other 3D software seem to require some math done on them to work correctly in Lightwave. You have to set the displacement up using nodes and use the Subtract and Multiply nodes to get the numbers in the correct range. It's not hard if you follow the instructions, which are on page 205 of the v9 Layout manual.

thats a vector displacement map. Search this forum for vector displacement.
