Haven't messed with nodes very much in the past...just had some spare time to play around after watching a brushed metal tutorial and tried to recreate and learned a lot. Very powerful tool but also time consuming for beginners!

Here is a brushed metal surface that came out pretty well.
(+ a sad attempt to build the cool little "egg holder thingie" that the node gurus use)

nicely done!

you can get the "egg holder thingie" :D as well as some premade scenes as well as a ton of node surfaces to study and deconstruct here:

Preset Central (http://www.presetcentral.com/)

sharing is caring

I was checking that out yesterday.
Lots of impressive work there. Looks like a good place to gain a lot of knowledge just deconstructing those presets!
I have a lot to learn in all areas of LW, this will help a lot with surfacing!

here are a couple more.
I like what I'm learning with the nodal approach.
just getting through the basics so far, but the process is beginning to make sense now.
I downloaded the "official" scene from Preset Central for these...
