Hey all, I have just stumbled across these two videos that amazed me, liked what I saw etc. plus gives us a alrighto-decent look into what I think is their own software.

Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_ZWD9isavE

Shows a lot of the actors doing their recording for the first half.
The second half (starts at 3.44) shows the character meshes of WALL·E, EVE and Auto. It shows also shows flat shaded version of PR-T (Pronounced Pretty).

Information from a competitors podcast in which EVE was modelled in, EVE comprises of 49,000 points.

This video also shows the programs interface for animating all the individual parts of WALL·E, for example his solar panels, the process of making them fold out, and his front panel. Also shows AUTO being animated briefly.

Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPJ-ywUkTLQ

This shows a Pixar artist (know the name of, it just escapes me) rewinding and fastwarding video for the first few seconds.

After that, shows them adding all the individual objects to a scene inside the Axiom, for example floors, then floor lighting, then holograms etc. etc.

Then shows a daily animator meet where they meet with Andrew (director) and he leads them to what he wants with the animation, the second scene which he references too regarding animation but dont see is the bubble wrap scene with EVE (my fav bit of animation in the whole movie)

It then covers creating the soundtrack, music and creating the voices for me movie.

Toy Story 1, 2 and 3 News!

As many people dont know this yet, and I only noticed it because I had nothing better to do that read press releases, it looks like Toy Story 1 and 2 are coming back to cinemas before Toy Story 3 is released, this time in Disney Digital 3D.

Cue Press Release Quote:

Thanks so much, I LOVE PIXAR!

I dont know anyone who actually hates Pixar, so they must be doing something right.

Great though to even have a glimpse at the software they use.

Did they use Maya for Wall-E? What LW used in some instances?

Did they use Maya for Wall-E? What LW used in some instances?

According to a actual post from a person directly at Pixar on these forums he believes that LightWave was not in use at all, well not that he knows off anyway.

I will try and find that post.

Edit: Here is the post. Rick Hurrey also said in the thread that he was the one who modelled EVE's interiors and her belly doors.

As far as I know there is no LW being used at Pixar... I could be wrong, we're a big place, but certainly not a "Team" if I am wrong.

Thread Name: Wall-E: eve modeled completely in modo - WHY?

Hope this helps you all.
