View Full Version : OEM Lightwave?????

I found a website that is offering Lightwave as an OEM download only. Is Lightwave even sold this way? The price was only $130 for the full package.

Something sounds fishy.

That's VERY fishy. LW is not sold as OEM. It's probably an educational license or some such thing, or for that matter, a pirated copy.

Try contacting the seller about what they think makes it OEM, lol. Sketchy!!

pirated for sure!

I'll make the completely unsupported generalization that all "OEM" download sites are nothing more than fraud, selling cracks to unwary people. OEM software is generally cheaper because it is licensed to be sold with a system or computer component. Using OEM software obtained in any other way would most certainly be contrary to the license.

As far as I am aware, there is no OEM version of LightWave anyway.

Can't have a download only version of lightwave since you need a dongle!

This is the site I found.

They sell a lot of software as OEM at very low prices. I was wondering how they could sell it as a download without a dongle.

I really just wanted to report this site if it is not legal. It sounds like from your responses that I may have been right.

Thanks all.

Well, they don't even have a contact address. Yup, it's not legal, probably not much that NT can do about it though.

Carrara is not even listed on the Companion upgrade list for Lightwave. Guess they don't consider it an equivalent software package.

Kind of figured so. Oh well, I was going to spend the money anyway.:D
