View Full Version : Rotating texture not recognised by PR Motion Blur

Hi,

Just been animating some rotating fans by rotating a texture (long boring reason as to why it had to be done this way). Anyway, photo real motion blur completely refuses to blur the fans at all. Any camera or object motion in the scene is blurred as expected.

We've had to resort to lightwave's old multiple passes MB.

Is this behavior correct or have we stumbled across a bug?

It's a known limitation of the current PR MB implementation. It only works with moving objects - deformations have limited support, and animated textures won't be blurred at all without multiple passes.

So it's not a bug, but there's certainly room for improvement.

Actually, if you add more passes they should be updated for each pass... and you can combine those with PRMblur (maybe a lower AS threshold, or no AS at all).
Without AS, it's basically behaves like the old motion blur, but with randomized samples (as opposed to stepped or dithered sampling).

Cheers,
Mike

OK, thanks for the info! I'll keep an eye out for that in the future.
