I would really like to see Lightwave rendering with 16 quad core Xeons.

I can't help but agree with the "will it blend" question, though.

LW can have only up to 16 threads rendering at the same time, so you would have to set up 3x LWSN + Layout, even on local machine to utilize whole power of 16 quads..

Sensei, I thought LW had 999 nodes to render ? which would be minimum 999 threads? or are you saying 16 threads max per node ?

I was talking about Render Globals Thread control in Layout.. Of course with LWSN you can have anything what you like..

Hi,

I'm running LW on a Dual Quad (8 core) Xeon 5335 2Ghz with asus DSBV-D.
It's Fast but seems like a QX6600 is a very good competitor for a single Quad.
From my experience with dual(physical) processor vs mono processing is a gain of 30%.

Of course a 16 core is drullingly nice to imagine but a Boxx "Apex"
Is IMHO as good for the same average price. Besides My 8 core
cost around 1500 euros witch is quite affordable when you know
how fast you can takle the price with the money gained with it.

Cheers

Some good teeth whitening products there.

nope it won't, LW doesn't utilise any GPU accelaration (unfortunatly)

I'm really shocked by this. It seems the difference is almost linear in rendering performance to me.
