View Full Version : Anything similar to mental Ray's Physical Sun Sky shader?

I haven't used Lightwave in any meaningful fashion since v9.0. Just downloaded 9.5.

I was using mental ray for a recent project and it has a shader called 'Physical Sun Sky' which gets applied to the lens and to the environment. When applied it gives physically correct sunlight and reflected skylight, to the scene. And physically accurate shadows (shadows near to the ground level are nice and crisp, tall objects cast softer shadows etc.)

Has anything similar been developed for Lightwave [in the v9 dev. cycle]?

http://pagesperso-orange.fr/dpont/plugins/Sunsky.html try applying Dponts sunsky plugin to your environment texture, and an infinite light http://pagesperso-orange.fr/dpont/plugins/lights/Additional_Lights.html in the scene. Also apply the sunspot motion modifier to the main light. There's been some experiments on such things on this forum, it worked quite well as I recall! :)
