I use Windows XP x64 Edition and ever since I started using it, any Quicktime movie embedded in a web page fails to render its controls. It happens in both Internet Explorer and Firefox (v3.0.1).

It plays fine and the controls are clickable and usable, but they just show up as a black rectangle. See the screenshot. So it makes it hard to find the slider once a video is playing.

Any ideas? Anyone else with XP x64 have this issue?

Yes that’s just the way it is at the moment. There is no 64-bit dll for the QT codec.

And as a result the controls don't show in programs like browsers.

Works fine in its own player.

It's the same for vista, nothing will change until apple (if they do) create a 64bit version of the dll you can install, so it has nothing to do with your windows or browser installations.

Well at least I know why it's happening now. Thanks. :)

It works fine for me. But I'm using QuickTime Alternative.

Can you use itunes with the quicktime alternative? It's something I miss from the 32 bit system
