View Full Version : Help with particles wanted

Hello everybody.

I'm having difficulties with particles. For a project I have to design a swimmig pool with showers etc... I make the showers with particles and HyperVoxels, which is not a problem for me. But one type of shower (we call this neckshowers) is impossible to make for me. You can see the picture below. The water comes out of a squashed pipe:

But when I make my particles in LightWave, the particles come out like a regular shower:

I have tried changing the Nozzle in the FX-emitter dialog box, but no result. Any ideas are most welcome.

create a polygon surface that fits intot he nozzle shape and then use emit from surface. should do what you want.

Or create an object already modeled in that shape and surface it to look like water and animate with displacements or apply HVs to it and animate their size with an animated procedural.

Thanks a lot guys!!! I've tried everything, but the solution from Stooch was the perfect one. I have made an object shaped like the nozzle and added the Particle Emitter to that object:

you have a problem with regularity right?
to get a more undulations in the particle flow I would add a dynamic wind
perhaps set to vortex mode, set the fallof mode to off...and play with the
turbulence size vectors.

as stooch mentioned, you should use a polygon surface, you could easy create that polygon by copy it from the pipes end and in layout use that as
a emitter from surface or object line..

heres a pic with some a vortex wind added and a polygon at the pipe end emitts particles from the object line mode..youll need to crank up the particles a lot thou.
