Ah a new version already! The previous versions were brilliant, I will try this just as soon as I can print it on the colour laser in the office when the boss is away!

Thank you for the explanation. Lightwave 9.5 needs more or this, hopefully from Newtek, along with demonstration videos. Your contribution is appreciated.

Newtek needs to post a link to this guide on their front page...

Yes, this site put together by Exception is a great resource.

This is exactly what people mean when they tell newtek that they want improved manuals. Also, someone should post Matt's FFX guide as well.

These are great guideline examples of what people want from User Manuals today.

Yep, Exception is fantastic and generous. Saved me a ton of "tinkering" because the documentation is crapola...

Matt's guide is NT's documentation apparently.

Updated the guide with notes on animated radiosity and the contingency where rendering goes much slower, that some people have bumped into. the information was already in there, by understanding how it works, but I expanded on it a bit more to call it out and make it more insightful.

Yep they are, and they are available for download in your accounts.

You know Exception, I've been thinking, we should put your Radiosity guide into the same PDF format, just to complete the collection, how's about it?

:)

Hmm... well... I update it almost every week... and it's the number one traffic source on my website...
Two reasons not to do it that way. We can do it in addtion, but I'd like the web one to be continuing.

I just added an animation and some more exmples.

It could be hosted on your site, but yes the updates would be problematic I guess.

hi Exception,
first, thanks for the detailed guide on your site.
how did you get the renders with the green dots showing sample locations? the 'secret' radiosity flags do not seem to support that specific output... (did you maybe take the red 'sample locations' output and invert it and then lay it over a 'nearest sample cell shaded' of the same frame?)

thx :)

Just type in your Lw9.CFG : RadiosityFlags 8
Should show you what you want.

Cheers

It's the sample locations (8). They change colors depending on the color of the polygon they're on, I am assuming to retain contrast, although that does not always work.

ah-ha! sneaky! thank you, guys :)

PS. saw more of your work in the 9.5 brochure... truly exceptional images, Exception! your avatar name is well deserved :)
