The NewTek forums are the best I think.

-Great ideas discussed.

-Bad ideas discussed

-Little censorship.

-A mature attitude towards art.

-Most name calling later apologized for.

-Best grammar. (Well, I spellcheck, usually)

-People not afraid to call a spade a spade.

-Most posters don't "hide" behind an online persona.

-Could probably find a place to crash through here in a tight spot.

-Company employees actually participate.

-Open 24/7

You're actually right.
You can find other forums, with a more heavy-handed approach to discipline, which seem to encourage flaming rather than prevent it, or forums where threads get locked more readily, members more quickly banned, warned, whatever....

As for all the 3D communities I've visited, it does seem to have the highest level of professionalism. Even the gadflies do their thing more out of passion and love than a desire for trolling. ;)

And for those who want to, we even have NewTek's endorsement: Go ahead, make a scene :D

Well, it's Saturday. You'd better get started! I think I'm going to have a little nip of Scotch myself.

Most fan sites about any given subject (Star Trek, Star Wars, Xena, polka dot M&Ms, whatever) are overly "PG". Much of the great art on this forum would not be allowed, usually the big buggaboo is nudity. That is why I enjoy the mature and professional attitude. We even get to the point of thinking, "oh no, not another noobie nudie..."

And we do have a high possiblity of actually meeting face to face, and my nametag at shows always says Shrox...and I think such meetings are more likely to be friendly because of our civilness in our anonimoty.

By the way, I plan to place your tagline outside my cubicle at my next job, assuming I don't get the always promised office.

"If it looks like I'm not busy... It's because I did it right the first time."

First I am going watch COPS, then I'll go have a drink at the indian casino owned by the native Americans. I don't know why they use two different terms...

Very glad I could oblige. I'm a fan of that one myself.

I am looking forward to meeting all of you people, particularly you gamer and music types, if they ever have a SIGGRAPH at somewhere which works for me. ;)

Hah!

Oh, but that's a good thing. Pretty soon, the left side of my brain will give in to the right and I'll stop trolling the forums and actually start modeling or texturing something without getting all frustrated that it's not absolutely perfect or exactly to scale... :)

That guitar picture you posted and asked if it was real or rendered was beautiful. I first thought it was a render you had done and were just fishing for compliments.
And the fact I even thought that is a compliment in its own right. ;)

Have to agree with the sentiments - I think these forums are by far and away the best place to be. A credit to Newtek and the community.
