I'll take the plunge then.

this one's fake? I'm kinda 50/50. I can see various things that my brain tells me make it real but I'm ignoring my brain and going on gut instinct. (it's pretty scary when I cross the road)

there used to be a real or render quiz on the autodesk site I think with 12 or so images

Fake.

I think the light wood gives it away.

Fake. Not a blemish on it. The wood border looks like it was merely mapped on. Still.... an excellent render!

in my very humble and no more valid than anyone else's opinion you have no taste in guitars. These kind of things are hideous bastardizations of some of the greatest icons in popular culture.

Just my opinion!

bet you like Maroon 5 :D

i'm amazed if that's a render. Even the strings are showing winding. That would be exquisite attention to detail :)

OK folks ... Real or Render Round 1 goes to .......

rhocando!!!

This is an actual photograph of a Nik Huber T-style custom (hard to come by and in limited production). The photography done for this particular one was excellent (which started this idea in the first place).

These guitars are considered investment level professional guitars. Custom made and of the highest quality. This particular signature series starts at around $7k. Personally, I don't really like this particular one - the wood banding doesn't do anything for me, but some of the Redwood series are simply georgeous works of art.

I don't know if anyone caught it or not, but I tried to add a little trickery to this one. If you look a t the properties to the image, I named it "render_test14". :D

So who's next?

render

Hopper

Ok .. I'm going to have to say render. And the only reason I'm making that choice is that I can't see any blend deviation on the colors for the Italian flag sticker.

Well .. ok ... that, and it's Matt's so you know it might as well be a photo.

And if it is a render - man I have to have that plastic texture. I'm working on a product and mine just look like cartoon coloring.

Ok Matt - I'd better be right ... I blew my "1,000th" post on that guess... :D

This sounds funny.

I think that this is a render because the strong red pigment of the table dosen't bounce enough to those dark plastic surfaces. The sticker is so straightly placed that it adds suspicion. There seems to be a seam at the end of the cylinder that suggest that it is actually casted... Damn hard to say. :S

The photo, I mean render, I mean photo isn't mine, got it from the internet .... somewhere! :)

Jim_C

I'm going with 'render', not because I can tell anything about anything about anything, but because we've had a 'real' so I'm playing the odds.

Hopper

Hah!

See .. I told you this would be fun.

We should do the same thing but with boobs this time!! :D

I'm going to hazard a guess that it's a render. I could be wrong but I don't think I see any depth to the sticker (around the edges).

Matt

Well, maybe that was an easy one! Yup! It's a render! (From this guy)
