Well I really like it! Looking forward to see it animated.

Just some thoughts here, maybe a third layer of mountains in the far far background to create even more depth? Maybe a hint of a blue foggy siluette of a mountain on the right side horizon?

And maybe some fine polish of the brush strokes on the right side. The main mountains feel very photoreal, but on the right I get a more painterly feel. Maybe some far distant mountain will help even in out?

Changes or not, this is good as it is right now in my book. Good job!

Looks really great ! I like the lighting matching on the helicopters and the bunkers. But is it fit in to the contest rules ? I mean how match of this LW ?

I don't see why not. The background looks like a matte plate using photo/painting techniques combined with 3d elements.

Compositing not allowed ... But it's looks really nice.

hi everyone thanks for the positive replies

the rules state that :

The animation must be 100% LightWave models, rigging and renders only. You can use any non-commercial, freely available plugin.

and it is.. all modeling , texturing, rigging, lighting and rendering was native LW. I Matte painted a background but i think thats ok ..

i am gonna add more fog and mist in the back left of the image also..

cheers

Of course it is ok!!!
Otherwise..... how are you going to edit your image maps for textures if you don't use Photoshop or similar? If you don't, shall all textures be procedurals then???

Sweet! I love the feel of it. I can't wait to see it animated. Is the mountain only a Matte Painting? If so, nice job blending it in to the 3d.

I don't know, the last comp that I remember Newtek sponsoring was all about texturing with only procedurals and gradients. It's amazing what can be done with them.
They really want us to show what Lightwave is capable of. Doing anything in another software defeats the purpose.

Looks cool.

I'm more liked the previous (saturated) version. Still looks great but can be more contrasted.
