Don´t want to miss it tomorrow. At what (european) time will the streams start, and do we need to install any software or codec to see them properly?

Thx

Hervé

Sorry, it starts on Tuesday..... (from Lee)

While we won't have streaming at the party, I'm hoping that we'll have Wifi so people can do their own reports..

I'll know about the Wifi thing later today....

Matt

yeah can someone at NewTek put out an email detailing when any streaming is set to take place, times, what software will be needed (if any) etc.

don't want to miss them! either that or can we have them zipped up in a movie and posted on the web?

:)

Second the zip up and put on the web as an offline- version- request.
I really hate streaming stuff. Even with my DSL it is often choppy and slow (the NAB- stream was pretty good though).
Still I will certainly watch the live- stream and hope that it works(I dont want to miss a thing)

yes, please record them in god quality and zip them down so we all can watch.

I third that on the streaming blows part. This isn't 1996 when that was pretty cool and mind blowing technology.

Nick

But don't take away the live stream, I whant to see it when it happens even if the video is really blurry and all that. But then a couple of days later I would like to see what realy happend in the good quality video.

and if posibel, please make an avi of the lw show reel and lett us dl !

VirtualFM

The problem is not the blurryness, the problem is that it's really very sharp quality... and last 3 seconds at most... then all you have left is a still (which, with luck, is refreshed every minute or so) and sound... This lasts about 2 or 3 minutes, then I have to restart the media player.

It's been like this the last few years. So for what I hope is the last time, I request a low-quality streaming so that we can see SOMETHING moving, or, better yet, as everyone else sugested, downloadable compressed videos os the key moments. I don't mind if it's 600Mb like the Half-Life2 E3 videos, just make them available for download.

PS: I am on cable. Doesn't help a bit for the %"#$%" streaming

Amen to that.

Living in the UK, the chances of actually catching an LW demo when it is on is remote. Being able to download the demo media blocks would be great!

kevman3d
07-28-2003, 04:17 AM
Hallejulia to that!

...And I thought I was the only person who had a hateful veangence against streaming here, being in NZ on my old 56k modem! :) DivX Avi, Mpeg 1, or Sorenson3-encoded Mov's would be ideal for me! ;)

Failing that, a free DVD or VHS of the event would be a nicer gesture! :D lol!

Yeah, they can pack it in with the upgrades for all those of us that have pre-ordered :p :p :p

I was able to get the streaming pretty good last time. It's really neat to watch.
I'm sure NewTek won't eliminate the streams in lieu of downloads, at least I hope not! I can't get anything out of their FTP site (like Lee's cool DFX vids).:(

wonder if there is a way to record a stream. could chop out cool bits for people to download.

downloading a 100MBs of the show is my only fear of the download.

And how much bandwidth do you think the streaming takes?! :-)

There was a program that 'ripped' everything from streamings

Streambox... something

try godzilla or another download manager. makes even GB files a breeze.

Well, if you have a TV output on video card, have cable go from PC to VHS recorder. Same for the audio. Worked great except for the occasional internet lags and technical problems.
I am still waiting for Newtek to let US know if there is streaming
and have link ready plus broadcast times.

sketchyjay

are streams for stuff like this all day or just o show off a feature kind of thing?

For recording you can try HiNetRecorder from www.hoonnet.com . I will try.
It’s 1,74MB and it’s free.

I want to see with my eyes if it “....solves problems such as poor video resolution and freezing (buffering) during time of high internet traffic which causes interference in information flow."

Trygve and EsHrA,

You lucky bastards! Since Norway and Holland is slightly more close to the US than Sweden is I guess you will be able to see the stream like a split second earlier than me.

By the way I should do something more productive until 19:00 (local time) rather than sitting here and looking at that annoying Comming soon message....

Enjoy Sunshine in Life

Once again, the Mac users get screwed...

*edit* I tried copy/pasting the URL for the live stream (mms://newtektv.com/siggraph2003) into WMP7 (the latest version available for OSX), and I get sound but the video is nothing but solid black.

Choppy here too. Sound only most of the time, and frozen images.

Where can we download the LW demoreel with the Area 51 and D2 stuff? Looks great! NewTek could put it on FTP.

And some of the presentations also! Great cellshaded sequences in the demo!

L8´s interface looks a lot like the Dynamic Realities interfaces, but a tad more elegant.
Colors: dark grey and pastel light blues for highlighted buttons. No rounded buttons so far :D

The dynamics, cloth and hypervoxels look great and very realtime to me.

NewTek could put it ALL on FTP. Please, at least the demos.
