I want to make a model railway for the game engine. The scene is pretty messy (the skybox was rendered in LW) but have the animation sort of worked out.

I have diskove'red boning a low poly object for mechanical motion is pretty cool though haven't perfected it. Transparency for parts too.

Its a little dark so it's hard to see the scene. The texture for the gravel bed under the tracks is a little too obvious that it's repeating.

Yeah, agreed, I can't see much detail, mostly silhouette. You might want to check your monitor's gamma out.

Thanks guys. Mac gamma, anything dark tends to silhouette I keep forgetting (I just re-calibrated the screen to PC gamma and it hurt my eyes...).

The aesthetics of the scene are malleable, just that I've been knocking up skyboxes lately and thought this one was better even if a little dark... ie. sunset.

But what I am interested in ( though I can't see it yet either) is low-poly animated mechanisms.

Um, could you view the movie? Chunky?

There were 2 movies in the zip. The movie with the underscore before it wouldn't play, but the other one looked good.

Some kind of iTunes/iPod crap, it's embedded html kind of thing.

Not being able to cast shadows in the indie version of Unity... baking the surrounds in LW using the surface baking camera with the appropriate image transparency seems to work OK?

-The shadows cast by the viaduct are part of the object and just sit slightly above the terrain object. Hope it's bright enough?

S'ppose I should have read the instructions first hey? Still, the winners will post later since there are only a few so far, we're just warming the seat.

No problem, (yeah sure) one steam train coming up...:help:

Good! Are you use Relativity for these movements?

No, it's just bones and nulls. Thanks, must look into that.
