For some reason it makes me think of the movie "Big"

Scotty Brennen: See that girl over there in the red? Say "hi" to her and she's yours. She'll have her legs around you so tight you'll be begging for mercy.

Josh: Well, I'll stay away from her, then.

Yeah ... Poser does a lot really. Guys no long have to wait until they hit puberty and look old enough to get at the top-shelf stuff, they just lock their bedroom door, wip-out their Vickies, and pose away!

Wheheeeeeeeeey :hey:

You have to admit, once you've seen face sitting and floating trannies in Poser - you've really seen it all.

It's interesting in that it highlights what's really important to so many Poser users. You have the crotch-meets-face shot several times, and zoomed in.
All those other insignificant things such as proper motion, dynamics and such are cleverly ignored, so the viewer doesn't lose focus on the subject at hand. Or rather, the subject at face. ;)

Ah, but remember, it's not the tool, but the artist - and even though it's not a great animation, it shouldn't be assumed it's because of Poser and blah blah blah, so forth and so on.

Just trying to jump ahead a little bit, 'cause you know it's coming. :D

Nah, it's an animatic previs based on a script for a new Bond movie called '***** Galore'

Hmmm!!, interesting use of censorship, whoever set this up must have a mind like a sewer

(now that's funny... it didn't actually censor it the 2nd time I wrote it... maybe because of the '?')

I know what you mean, it's little out of order censoring that word, especially when you consider how many folk have cat avatars around here. I mean, what if those guys genuinely wanted to talk about their *****?

I blame Ben :D

Maybe they know you meant ***** as opposed to *****. As far as the rest of us are concerned they are pretty sure we mean ***** when we say *****.

Technically speaking isn't pusy a four letter word where as ***** is a five letter word?

obviously it was "poser porn" because I just love to settle down behind my workstation, put my legs around the monitor and whip out the Eucerine and a box of kleenex. MMMM SBD...

Funny videos. :)

But it's the user, not the software.... there ARE serious people using Poser as well... maybe not for rendering/lighting or animation, but it has a pretty good clothsim. Actually, someone on this forum showed how he used Poser as a clothsim plugin for LW. Pretty good and looked almost as good as Syflex if I'm not having a false memory.

Oh well...

seems poser has some great tools in there...

Stooch
06-14-2008, 12:51 PM
you are absolutely right it is the user not the tools. I dont look down on poser, i have used it in production to create some filler character animations for archvis, where making stuff from scratch just doesnt make sense (or pays). Its the fools that create crap that looks nothing more than a posed, dressed up barbie and try to pass it off as art that get my scorn. Very rarely do i see a nice poser based character render and even then my amusement only lasts momentarily because these guys seem to be one trick ponies, their galleries full of the same crap.

"poser" is a very apt name imo. it not only reflects on the program functionality but also on a large percentage of its users.

cresshead
06-15-2008, 06:19 AM
i'd add that even some of the poser stuff that people detest has a ton more merit than recent 'art' we get shoved in our eyes as 'cuttng edge' such as thriowing buckets of paint on the floor or leaving an unmade bed...piling tyres up in the shape of a submarine or setting up a few bricks in a sqr in the large art galleries around the world....i much sooner see poser 'crap' by people having a go at something than some idiot getting my 'tax' for their 'art'...

rant off...:)

Yes, I really love a major portion of my income going to government grants which helps support lazy, touched-in-the-head artistes who like to stuff dead goats with macaroni and then hang it on some wall somewhere.

Poser is definitely useful. It's just such in the reach of amateurs...gives it a horrendous reputation.

Kind of like LW.

A woman/struggling artist from a nearby town to me was awarded a grant of 5000 ($9785.5 US) to do some performing art for the local denizens thereof , it entailed, what for it........... walking down the main street picking up litter

Poser on the other hand is of considerably more use and value and really doesn't need beating with a big stick to knock some bloody sense into it

Hmm. Do you have a problem with stuffing, say, a dead puma with ziti and cottage cheese and hanging it on a wall?
Just curious, really - I have no other reason for asking. It's not like I'm in the middle of that kind of project or anything...what a silly idea that would be huh? ha-ha-ha-ha...

That's pretty funny. I don't remember the name of it, but there was a site back in the earlier 2000's that was basically a collection of the worst 3D the guy could find on the web. I think it was called Jackal's Abominate, or something like that. One time he had a hilariously bad animation of Darth Maul trying to do a walk cycle. It looked more like Maul was ice skating and having a turrets fit. It was gimbal lock city. Good times.
