View Full Version : IK with a tentacle

hey, can anyone tell me how to make my animation smoother? I have IK rigged up for a tentacle. The last bone is not active and its set to IK with its target being a null object. The rest of the bones have controllers (h,p,b) set to Inverse Kinematics. The problem is when I move the target (goal) object across the screen the tentacle doesn't wave like it ought to, it jumps as from an S shape to the reverse.

Use a couple of goals along the length, to make it more controllable.

Or add a "pre-bend" which means:
turn off ik.
select all your bones in the tentacle and rotate them _slightly_ in the rotation axis you want to control better. Then (with bones still selected) press 'r'.

If you desire more control, you may need a special plugin called PLG_IK SPLINE.

nevermind i've figured it out. The two null goal objects worked great.

Thanks guys!
