Hello.

I am soon going to attempt to model screw threads. I'm thinking about extruding a triangle along a tight helix and then boolean to a cylinder. Is this the way to go or is there a better/easier method?

Thanks.

http://www.robinwood.com/Catalog/Technical/LightwaveTuts/LWPacks/ScrewThreads/ScrewThreads.html

Personally i would follow that tutorial
It is also possible to do it lots of other ways too
Just type screw threads in lightwave or something similar into Google
Google is the lightwave tutorial dictionary :)

He may be referring to my quickBolt plugin. You can download the demo version from http://www.iemedia.co.uk/graphics/p-plugins.htm to give it a tryout.

Thank you all for your responses.

Although I've decided that I probably won't need any threads on my current project, the client may change their mind (a given). It's nice to see there are other options and I will go through each one to see which ones work the best for the given project. It's something that I know will come up in the future.

Thanks.
