Well I think because it is surface mode in HV, all texture are on generated on "virtual surface" only, not volumetric one.

So, it happened like this

I am afraid that this is not a bug.
In 3d space without Volumetrics, all we see are due to polygons defining a surface with properties.

A HV Volumetric is a set of properties like color, transparency etc grouped in a form of texture or a mathematic relation.

A HV Volumetric Surface is a point with a radius defining a ball who's surface is displaced according to a texture or a mathematic relation. Blending some Volumetric Surfaces creates merged shapes.

But a volumetric surface has no real "volume", like is made of polygons.

Dont expect to cross a Volumetric surface with a camera and find something inside.
