Hi,

I've noticed a trend among our Mac Modeler users who are using other products as well. I don't know how things work in other apps, but if you want the absolute fastest way of working with solids (ie not wireframes) in Modeler, use Smooth Shading, along with VBOs.

It's MUCH faster than flat shading, and MUCH faster than with them off.

Just so you know...

Well I keep VBOs on but I can't work in smooth shaded view, I have to see my wireframe when I'm modelling so I use Wireframe shade mostly.

Boo, VBOs are Vertex Buffer Objects. As I understand it they are a technique to allow the GFX card to handle very large amounts of geometry data very quickly. They're not supported by some older cards though. You can read about them here...

...hi BazC...
...
...thanks for that info.
...like yourself i use Wireframe Shade to see what im doing. would be nice right now to have LW work faster whilst modeling.
...
...thanks again.

VBO mode also accelerates wireframe shade and texture viewports.

Thanks for the info!
