hiya all, i was just browsing around alias/wavefront's website and found quite a cool thing, a quiz to test our eyes whether we can tell if the image is CG or real.

http://www.alias.com/eng/products-services/maya/index.shtml

click the link, it's almost at the bottom and right in the middle (the one that says: Is It Fake or Foto?

btw, i scored only 4 out of 10 :-p

the are all cg since cg means computer generated - they are on a website - so that means that they are probably jpgs which were edited in photoshop and were served to you via a computer server and computer browser - and you saw them on a computer monitor, so the image that you saw was generated in a computer...

Alias needed to get people thinking through the fact that they can do photo-real renders. Most of Maya's stuff looks like "High Quality CG" rather than *the real thing*.

With Lightwave, you get to see gallery page after gallery page full of that-HAS-to-be-real imagery (especially cars, IMO), but most of the stuff people see out of Maya doesn't seem to have that presence to it.

Anyone here worked with both Maya and Lightwave? Any comments on creating photo-realistic renders from that perspective?
