hey,

i need to code my md2 loader/renderer for my game, but i found no good tutorials on the net to load a md2 file, so i was wondering if there was an option in lghtwave to export in ANCII instead of binary, so i could just see how the file was structured and then just load it in my program. Or is there a way to change a file from binary to ANCII?

i've never really grasped all about binary stuff.

but basicly i want to be able to export md2 ANCII files out of lightwave or convert the ones i export to ANCII...

Any ideas??

Why don't you directly load the binary format?
It is well documented, and the SDK contains a very neat sample of how to read LW objects:

ouch, it looks pretty difficult... i've tried to read a binary file before but i think its too freaking hard, i've only writen one 3d object file loader before and it was ANCII. i would like to stick to easier files before jumping into lwo(im only 14, must start small) what other file formats are out ther that can be exported in ANCII?

PLEASE!
