After installing the latest upgrade from NewTek for our TriCaster Studio, I was creating some new Windows Media Profiles. I happened to notice that in the C:\Tricaster\User Data\Default User\StreamProfiles directory there is a FlashProfiles directory with Flash streaming profiles. Does anyone know if the TriCaster Studio have some hidden support for Flash video streaming in the latest upgrade, or are these for future use?

Wouldn't that be cool!

Hmmm, I only know that you can save and create flash saver presets, but not on the streaming side. I have only ever streamed .wmv from any Newtek product. I though that this was the best method and only, as far as I know.

NAB is coming soon. If this is something that they will be adding, :agree: I think this will be cool in the streaming market. When I don't just hand someone a .wmv, and they have a choice, they do ask for .flv files -- except for my one client who uses an old version of Dreamweaver and insists that I deliver the streaming files as .swf's. Go figure.

We are planning a test with a laptop running Flash Media Encoder 2 (free)

http://www.adobe.com/products/flashmediaserver/flashmediaencoder/

Feed the video and audio from the tricaster to the laptop (a low end $40 Kworld or Diamond usb video converter) or a canopus converter http://www.canopus.com/products/ADVC110/index.php

We will need to identify a good CDN for flash. Limelight offers the service now and I am sure there are some other good networks out there as well.

Flash plays a lot better with the MAC crowd and the image quality seems to be quite good at 300 kbps. It matches the windows media VC-1 at 380 kbps
