grease pencil animation tool for maya>>

it basically allows you to 'draw' in the viewport with a ''pencil'' and animate in 2d for roughing out an animation or to add notes to review/edit animations..it also has onion skinning and you can move/delete frames too.

seems to work by drawing splines locked to the current camera view then these splines are rasterised as pixels onto a transparent plane as you can scale move them if needed.

here's a link t to the maya demo video of the free melscript.
a QT mov showing you it working...

having read this about how pixar work and also seeing that some amazing anmator has created a melscript for maya

either a Lscript or maybe a plugin..

i'd pay for this baby!

Isn't this quite old, wasn't it a thread about a similar plugin for LW by TrueArt or someone a year ago or more, I think I remeber something like that. Do some search on the forum here and at Spinquad and see if you find something.

nothing like that on his website:-
http://www.trueart.pl/?URIType=Directory&URI=Products/Plug-Ins

and yeah it's a mel script from around 2005..i stumbled over it in a news thread today on cgtalk.

this sorta thing would need modeler to be in layout..another good instance of why modeler needs moving wholesale to layout.

I don't think he finished it, but he showed some promising screenshots in thread around here somewhere.

Depends on how you would create it.
Thanks to the introduction of the 9.3 gizmo class you can create by using a texturemap. (Wich might also have some additional advantages: more later)

Initial tests.... (Currently 512x512 pixels with a 3 pixel wide brush...only one frame (and all viewports) and still with very bad haptic / performance.)...

@ztreem
never heard of it, any links ?

Thanks.
