Wait! Put the gun down! It's me! Yeah! I'm not totally new and not a spambot!

If in your area you have CompUSA stores, they're closing. In my area the store is closing permanently in 3 days. The prices were chopped from 50% to 80%.

I picked up a copy of Final Cut Studio 2 which retails for near $1000 for less than $300. There was 2GB packs of Kingston and Centron RAM for $50 or so. Sony Viao (sp?) laptops for around $1000. Even some cheapo desktops for $300 or so. Check your local one out. It was packed and things were disappearing.

No wonder you close down with prices like these:

CTO POWERMAC G5 DUAL 2.5GHZ
Apple Power Mac G5 Desktop - PowerPC G5 2.5GHz - 1GB DDR SDRAM - 250GB - CD-RW/DVD-R - Gigabit Ethernet - Mac OS X
$4,434.99

And here (http://www.compusa.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?MfrId=87&CatId=6) is the link, if you don't believe me :D

That's ridiculous.

For everyday stuff though, like RAM and cards and hard drives, they were pretty decent though. I preferred them over most of the other stores.

In my area they closed months ago. Before I had chance to go and check out the deals 99% of the stuff was already scavenged. All they had left were some old CRT monitors, store shelves and stuff like that.

Went there last weekend andthere wasn't much left.
Fortunately I had my $35 gift card in my pocket or that would have been a wasted card. :)

With those prices no doubt why Carlos Slim (the owner) is the richest man in the world.

They closed down here last year and their going out of sale prices were still a rip off. :)

They closed down around here over the summer. I picked up my current 24" Gateway LCD monitor for about $400

All I know is that I got Final Cut Studio 2 (regularly $1299) for $279. I'm a happy little dude.

You've paraded around as one of us for the last year inigo07, but now we see the truth. All that time you were just a deep cover spambot!
I can't believe I trusted you...

I feel betrayed too. Now I wonder if his avatar isn't just a subliminal little Fender ad. ;)

I wish I'd known this, might have gone and checked it out. I haven't been in a Comp USA since I heard of NewEgg.com. And the few times I haven't bought online it's been at a Best Buy near my location.

Hmm.. maybe this is why they're going under? :D

By the way guys, check out www.fender.com for some cool guitars, great for Christmas, birthdays, Father's Day, anytime of year!

While you're out driving around looking for your nearest CompUSA, why don't you swing by a Subway for a nutritional sub that has low carbohydrates and low fat. Ask Jared, and visit www.subway.com for more details!

And by the way, mention this post at any participating Captain D's seafood restaurant to get a free fish n chips platter! Offer valid until March 15th.

I'm so confused by all this subliminal marketing, that I feel the need to go buy a hamburger at a major chain, increase my sex appeal with a new car, and drink the -right- beer. :D

Sir: do I have the right news for you.

Hamburger: visit Wendy's for a new, square burger. They're great.

Car: why don't you check out the Austin, TX Kia dealership? I'd recommend a Porsche or a Ferrari, but they're not sponsoring me.

Beer: Bud light. It's the Queen of all beers. Or wait. The King. I forget. Also visit Busch Gardens if you get a chance.

No, Bud is the KING of all beers. Bud Light is for those of us who have gotten older, but still want Bud. ;)

In any event, Guinness is actually the best beer, no doubt about it. :)

Uhhh...
According to the makers of Milwaukee's Best, it doesn't get any better than... I dunno, some kind of hops and fish turd combination. ;)

No doubt. Swear to god they were doing the whole "mark it up then put it on sale" thing.

I hear this guy (http://pagebosspdf.ypsolutions.com/Publishers/RHD/RHTA07/Yellow/images/p0209c_y0627x0401.JPG) is really great if you have any computer problems you need help with! ;)

yeah I went into compusa yesterday. Even with the 60% off it would bring everything to about what I would pay elsewhere.

Good grief, I must have been incredibly lucky or something or maybe it was just my ESP abilities that steered me towards that particular rack*. I'm still kicking myself with happiness just thinking about getting Final Cut Pro, Motion 3, Soundtrack Pro, Color, and all the rest for only $279.

*ESP abilities unfounded.

It was probably just a case that it is one of those things they probably thought nobody would actually buy. Probably not that many people (who attend brick and mortar outings) who use that sort of thing.

I guess so. There were three boxes there sitting alongside a Corel Painter X box and a Vista upgrade. Editors are pretty rare around here.

Yep I would say you are pretty lucky. Normally a retailer is required to send those products back to the vendor when they are going out of business, otherwise they eat the cost.

Congrats you screwed Compusa out of 800 bucks :D Good job.
