Does anyone know how to convert TV shows captured with Vista's Windows Media Center into avi or mov files?

I have not tried a program like Vegas...But programs like VLC (Videolan) can usually transcode between anything it can play. And it can play DVR-MS and .Avi.

Yesterday I was asking myself the same question. I've a hunch the videos captured by WMC are all protected.

They shouldn't be as i said VLC works fine for transcoding, and MediaPortal playback the format, their other programs found with a google search that will do it.

VLC is free, and everybody should use it.

Yes, FLV works saving to an avi that Windows Media Player will play but not LW.
But I can't get a mov file that LW or QuickTime will play from it.

Any suggestions/instructions available?

[EDIT]
BTW Windows Movie Maker seems to be able to save it too.

One thing to keep in mind is quicktime supports only a few codecs for avi.

Thanks mlon.

Both convert from wmv to mov great.

Super C seems to have more options but QuickMedia Converter seems faster and the picture is a little sharper.

Probably good to have both for the options.
