View Full Version : Need help getting light intensity separate from color

Hello again,

Again, in working on a Generic LW LScript to export LW scenes to Renderman RIB files for shading and rendering I have run into a roadblock.

I'm trying to get a light intensity value separate from color. So far I can only get color scaled by the intensity value. Kind of annoying when Renderman lights take both intensity and color. I think I have some hacks, but I'd like to do it nicely, cleanly, and accurately if possible. Any help is appreciated. You will be rewarded with the script upon completion.

there is no way to directly get the intensity. here is a workaround:

generic
{
curtime = Scene().currenttime;
selected = Scene().getSelect();
for(i=1;i<=selected.size();i++)
{
SelectItem(selected[i].id);
ca = selected[i].color(curtime).x;
LightIntensity(1);
cb = selected[i].color(curtime).x;
initialIntensity = ca / cb;
ii = number(initialIntensity);
info(ii);
}
}

the script will display the intensity of the selected layout items.

so what's the reward? :D
