i have mapped a cylindrical object,

which looks fine until i turn on subpatch,

then the map on the top of the object is distorted.

Using LW 7.5

thank you

oh i see that u are using LW 7.5 so you need to freeze this object then it will be fine but also you can using a subpatch interpolation from vertex maps panel if you are using LW 8.5!

D*mn i can't edit it above! I forget to tell you that u need to freeze this object before create uv texture map. It will look fine.

You could also try setting subpatch interpolation to subpatch when creating your UVs.

So to be clear about this, in 7.5 you can set subpatch interpolation when creating the UV but not after? Is that correct?

sorry thekho, I missed the second part of your answer, making mine redundant.

Surrealist: can you ever change subpatch interpolation after UV creation? Even in later versions? Because I've never found a way.

Wait, UVs were always interpolated linearly until 8.2 weren't they? So 7.5 doesn't have subpatch interpolation anyway.

thank you everyone,

i had try freezing the geo, but not before making the uvs

Yes. Press F8 for the Vertex Panel. Open the Texture drop down for the UV map you want to edit and click in the Interpolation column in that row for choices.

Oh god! How could I not see the interpolation column? I figured if it was possible I should have been able to right click the texture name and 'edit' or something.

Surrealist, you're my hero.

LOL! Same thing happened to me only a couple of months ago. I posted the same question and got the answer. Couldn't believe I missed it either. :D
