Here are a few stills from a project recently finished.
We tried to keep the characters as close to the sketches provided as possible, and utilised a common surface incorporating a procedural colour texture with light incidence falloff for the sketch lines, as well as Unreal cel shader.

I really like the result, a tutorial on how to achive this effect would be great, how simple are the models? I didn't get your explanation, Im kinda amateur with 3D. Could you explain more?

nice toon shader, have you looked at making cel shading via nodes like proton demo's in this vid::-

I considered it and had a quick dabble, but didn't have time to futz about, this was a quick project and I went with what worked first! Also, I had to match exact colours in highlights and shading, and Unreal Extreme is a very easy way to do this.
