hi all,

I am trying to write a script that reads an external file and loads those settings to the camera.

I managed to find Location and Rotation settings but I am stumped on
Focal length and maybe Fstop.

Any suggestions appreciated :help:

Is the lscript documentation just really bad ?

I have no solution, but you sparked a idea. I thing it would be dope to have a script that reads the meta data from images shot with digital cameras and translate it into a LW camera!

Hey I might have a helpful idea after all. Motion files usually save only position and rotation. But a scene file holds all of the camera information. You solution might be in converting your external camera data into into a LW scene file and use something like the load from scene feature to import the camera information!

CommandInput("LensFStop 2.8");
CommandInput("ZoomFactor 3.2"); // focal length
CommandInput("ApertureHeight 0.0042"); //aperture height

use the envelope object agent / channel object agent to create or modify these parameters if they are animated.

desired focal length to zoomfactor conversion is (at least this is what i use):

focalLength = ((focalLength * 2) / apertureHeight) / 1000;

where the variable 'a' is the focal length in meters.

It's worth noting, my load-save-camera scripts still work with LW8.5, and are uncompiled so the brave can look into my mess of code.
http://jezza.lwidof.net/lscript/#load_save_camera

and an attempt at camera referencing in LW (which uses the .cam format of load-save-cameras)
http://jezza.lwidof.net/lscript/#reference_camera

though for the referencing-types, reference motion works much better than reference camera (more stable and faster)...
